Why you’ll love it
The good stuff (and there’s plenty of it)
Work hard, get looked after. No buzzwords here, just what actually lands in your pocket and your week.
Bonuses that reward effort
Performance bonuses on top of your base. The harder the crew works, the more you take home.
Van, fuel card & tools
A fully maintained company vehicle, fuel card, phone, uniforms and quality gear. You just turn up.
Keep all your scrap
Whatever you pull out is yours to keep — a genuine earner most places quietly pocket for themselves.
Real work-life balance
Realistic, well-planned days. Knock off on time and get your evenings back.
Grow your career
Ongoing training, mentoring and toolbox sessions. Want a new ticket or more responsibility? We back it.
Long-term security
A 75-year-old name that isn't going anywhere — steady work, steady pay, and room to grow.
Life at Hall & Baum
The culture is the whole point
Our history speaks for itself — but it’s the people that keep folks here. We’ve built a workplace on respect, teamwork and backing each other, where everyone should enjoy coming to work each day.

A team that has your back
We work hard and look out for one another. Everyone here has someone to call when a job gets tricky — no one gets left on their own.

We back your development
Want to learn a new skill or take on more? We'll support it. Toolbox meetings, mentoring and real career growth come standard.

Family-first, genuinely
A family-run business with a family feel. Real balance and respect for what matters outside of work.

Here for the long haul
75 years in and still growing. Long-term security with one of SA's most established plumbing names — and room to grow.
Off the tools
Yes, plumbing can actually be fun
A good crew is the difference between a job and a place you look forward to. Here’s what happens between the pipes.

Coffee-fuelled catch-ups
Toolbox meetings start with a coffee and usually a bit of stirring. Honestly, it's the best part of the morning.
Socials on the calendar
Team nights out, end-of-year celebrations and the odd barbecue. You'll actually know the people you work with.
Wins get celebrated
Big job wrapped, new ticket earned, a milestone year with the crew? We make a proper fuss of it.
Banter is part of the uniform
We take the work seriously, not ourselves. Expect a laugh on most jobs and a nickname within a month.

I came for a job and stayed for the people. In fifteen years I’ve never once dreaded a Monday — that tells you everything.

Job type: Full-time
A day in the life
What the day actually looks like
No sugar-coating — just the honest rhythm of a workday here. Planned runs, varied jobs, a real lunch, and home on time.
7:00am
Start fresh, not frantic
Grab your run sheet, load the van and roll out. Jobs are planned the day before, so you know where you're headed before you turn the key.
8:00am – 12:00pm
Real, varied work
Hot water swaps, blocked drains, leak repairs, maintenance callouts. No two jobs the same, and always a teammate on the phone if you need a hand.
12:30pm
Lunch, sorted
Take a proper break. We plan realistic days, not a mad dash — you eat lunch sitting down, not behind the wheel.
3:30pm
Knock off on time
Wrap the day, log your jobs and head home. Your evening is yours.

Proof we actually have fun
No stock photos, no staged high-fives. Just the crew, caught in the act of enjoying their job.

Before you apply
The questions we get asked most
Still weighing it up? Here are straight answers to the things people usually want to know first.
For the maintenance plumber role, yes — a current SA Plumbing Licence is required. That said, we’re always keen to hear from good apprentices and second-year+ tradies too, so get in touch either way.
Standard full-time hours with a genuine focus on work-life balance. Days are planned properly, so when the day’s done, you go home.
There’s real room to grow. We back tickets, training and extra responsibility, and several of the crew have moved into senior and lead roles over the years.
Plenty of our team have. Most say the difference is being treated like a person rather than a number — you’ll know everyone’s name, and they’ll know yours.
As soon as it suits both of us. We move quickly once we’ve had a chat and it feels like a fit — no drawn-out, multi-round process.
Got a question that isn’t here? Email us or call (08) 8294 2941 — we’re happy to help.
