When this Unley family first called us, their main bathroom hadn't been touched since the house was built in the early 1980s. The pink bath was leaking, tiles were lifting off the wall and the layout left a cramped shower crammed into the corner while metres of floor space sat unused.
Once we stripped the room back to the studs, the bigger story revealed itself: the original waterproofing had completely perished and water had been tracking into the wall framing for years. Left any longer, it would have become a structural repair rather than a renovation.
We reset the whole room. New waterproofing was laid to current Australian Standards, the plumbing was re-run to suit a smarter layout, and we brought in a freestanding bath, a floating timber-look vanity and a generous walk-in shower. Because we project-managed the tiler, electrician and cabinetmaker ourselves, the family only ever had one point of contact — and one schedule to follow.
